ThesisDraft facts
ThesisDraft in plain facts
One sentence per fact, each read from the same code that sets the price or the limit on the rest of the site, so this page cannot drift from it. Every rate links to the page that shows how it was measured.
What is ThesisDraft?
- ThesisDraft is an AI and plagiarism self-check for theses, built in Germany: free to try, no sign-up for the check, and published error rates. Details
- The ThesisDraft AI check reads a thesis, term paper or essay and returns one of three verdicts: green, amber or red. Details
- The ThesisDraft AI check has two halves: Language structure, which measures 16 factors and marks every sentence that contributed to the verdict, and Writing style, a neural classifier that reads the text in passages of about 350 words. Details
- The ThesisDraft report has a Sources chapter that compares the student's sentences with public sources such as Wikipedia and open-access papers and highlights matching passages that carry no citation. Details
- The ThesisDraft result is a downloadable PDF report with every marked sentence, not a bare percentage.
- ThesisDraft checks text in English, German, French and Spanish, and refuses other languages rather than guessing.
- The ThesisDraft plagiarism check flags uncited quotations, self-repetition and stock academic phrasing; it is not a comparison against a university's plagiarism database, and a match it shows is not by itself plagiarism. Details
What does ThesisDraft cost?
- The ThesisDraft AI check is free for the first 1,500 words of an uploaded document and the first 1,000 words of pasted text, with no account. Details
- ThesisDraft gives no verdict on fewer than 300 words.
- A full-document ThesisDraft check costs €7 once, covers up to 30,000 words and keeps re-checks open for 14 days. Details
- The €7 ThesisDraft check also unlocks the plagiarism and citation check: one payment covers both. Details
- In some regions the ThesisDraft check costs €1.99 instead of €7; the region is detected automatically and the price on the buy button is the price charged. Details
- The ThesisDraft Academic Rewrite costs €13 per document and includes up to 3 rewrites of that document over 14 days. Details
- The ThesisDraft bundle of the Academic Rewrite and the full check costs €15; in the regions with the reduced check price, the rewrite and the bundle are reduced too. Details
- ThesisDraft's €7 check and €13 Academic Rewrite are one-time payments that never renew, and the price shown is the final price.
- ThesisDraft also sells plans for a signed-in account: a check plan at €5 / month, a check-and-rewrite plan at €15 / month and a semester pass at €50 / semester, each renewing until cancelled, cancellable at any time, and 20% cheaper with a creator code. Details
What does the ThesisDraft Academic Rewrite do?
- The ThesisDraft Academic Rewrite rewrites the sentences the report marked, such as stock phrases, hedges, tired transitions, overlong sentences and repeated openings, inside the student's own file. Details
- The ThesisDraft Academic Rewrite returns a .docx as Word tracked changes and a PDF as marked-up pages, and the student accepts or rejects every change.
- The ThesisDraft Academic Rewrite reproduces citations character for character and leaves front matter, formulas, equations and captions alone.
- ThesisDraft makes no claim that the Academic Rewrite changes any detector's verdict, its own or anyone else's, because nothing has measured that.
How accurate is the ThesisDraft AI check?
- ThesisDraft publishes how often each verdict is given to text certainly written by a human, as a 95% upper bound (Clopper-Pearson), with the population it was measured on. Details
- German, over 400 words: the strongest ThesisDraft verdict went to 10 of 1,035 held-out German student theses written before ChatGPT, an upper bound of 1.63%. Details
- English, over 400 words: the strongest ThesisDraft verdict went to 2 of 199 held-out slices of pre-2022 open-access papers, an upper bound of 3.13%; these are published papers, not student theses. Details
- Any amber or red ThesisDraft verdict on a document over 400 words: at most 6.18% in German (51 of 1,035) and at most 8.37% in English (10 of 199). Details
- ThesisDraft never gives German text under 400 words its strongest verdict, because no short-form threshold was cheap enough in false positives.
- ThesisDraft's rates were measured on English and German text only, and ThesisDraft issues no high-probability verdict in French or Spanish.
- Every ThesisDraft rate traces to a script that can be re-run, and no ThesisDraft verdict, like no detector's, is proof of authorship. Details
What does ThesisDraft store?
- ThesisDraft never asks for a name, a university, a supervisor or a matriculation number.
- The ThesisDraft check, plagiarism check and Academic Rewrite need no account when bought once; a plan's account holds the plan and how many checks it started, never a document.
- ThesisDraft keeps payment records and document text in separate systems, joined only by a code derived from the payment. Details
- ThesisDraft keeps the analysed text and the uploaded file; there is no deletion timer, and ThesisDraft deletes them on request within 30 days using the analysis reference shown with the result. Details
- ThesisDraft for Word is the exception: it needs an account, stores an email address, a plan and the sources the student uploads, but never the .docx, and is never joined to the anonymous check. Details
Who runs ThesisDraft?
- ThesisDraft is operated by Morphica Technologies in Munich, Germany, and answers at contact@thesisdraft.com. Details
- ThesisDraft for Word, an add-in that drafts in the student's own document against the sources they uploaded, is being built and is not yet installable from Microsoft AppSource. Details
- ThesisDraft no longer writes thesis drafts: that service was withdrawn on 17 August 2026.
